Riding bikes with Papa
Lucy seemed to enjoy her first day of bike riding on the back of Nic's bike as we cruised the lazy dirt roads of our little town. It was fun to explore by bike, although as we pumped up the big hill to our home we realized that we are out of shape. I walked the last bit, taking a short cut through the weeds to our back deck. One day we will be able to ride the whole hill, at least that is the goal.

Eight months and on the move...
Here is a picture of Lucy enjoying another day at the beach. We had lots of fun letting her play in the wet sand and crawl in the surf. She was busy for hours!
Lucy is now real crawling, as of yesterday, and pulling herself up to a stand on things. Uh oh, we are realizing she can reach many things that she could not before. She is so excited to stand by herself that every time we put her in her crib to wind down to a nap, she rolls over, pulls herself up and stands there. She does this over and over and over again until she is exhausted enough to sleep. What a busy baby!

Our Little Floor Cleaner
Well here is Lucy in her very uncoordinated first attempts at real crawling! It's really funny to see her up on her feet, and then she gets herself into the splits, in fact she does about everything but crawl. She's starting to move fast now. Let's see. Lucy will be eight months tomorrow. She still only has two teeth, which is strange since about two weeks ago she was so grumpy we thought she must be getting more. She loves having the group here at the mission and is fascinated with meeting new people. It takes her a little longer, though, to give up one of her award-winning smiles for which she is well-known.

Hmm, she can stand!
I walked into the room to get Lucy after I heard her wake up from a nap, and she was STANDING there, holding onto the side of her crib, looking at me surprised. A new era in "babyproofing" the house has arrived...but she probably won't be pulling up to a stand regularly for at least a good week.
Lucy wants to move everywhere and touch everything. When she is in her stroller, you can tell by the look on her face that she's thinking, "Come on mom, just let me down so I can run around and look at everything!" This girl does not sit still.

Lucy Saying Hello
Lucy is now 7 and a half months and a complete joy. She has a distinct personality that makes us laugh a lot. As she explores our home, she is determined to get into everything we do not want her to get into...the shoes, the tools, books (ours not hers of course!) Her favorite toys at the moment are cups because they roll around the floor and the door stopper because it makes a funny noise. I will be posting more videos soon, I hope, if I find the time.
